Higher pressure can increase jet power and cutting speed, but 6000 bar is not automatically the better investment. A well-matched 4200 bar-class system can be the lower-risk choice for many job shops. Cut performance also depends on horsepower, water flow, orifice size, abrasive type and flow, nozzle condition, standoff, motion control and selected edge quality. Comparing pressure alone is like comparing engines only by maximum RPM.
Ask each supplier to cut identical samples at a defined quality level. Record time, abrasive consumption, water and electricity, nozzle/orifice life, seal replacement interval and planned maintenance hours. Add the local cost of downtime and imported spare parts.
The pump, accumulator, tubing, fittings, swivels and cutting head must all be rated for the quoted operating pressure. Request written pressure ratings, safety devices, maintenance schedule and operator training scope.
