Slovenian stone companies operate in a demanding Central European environment where architectural quality, traceability and efficient production matter. Actual cutting speed and edge quality depend on the material’s hardness, thickness, internal structure and required finish. Testing the customer’s own material before purchasing a machine is recommended.
Waterjet cutting applies relatively low lateral force and produces no heat-affected zone, helping reduce thermal damage and edge chipping. However, natural veins, repaired sections, poor slab support or aggressive piercing can still cause cracks. Low-pressure piercing, suitable lead-ins and even slab support can reduce these risks.
A properly configured CNC waterjet can produce accurate curves, internal openings, inlays and detailed profiles. Final accuracy depends on machine condition, nozzle wear, cutting speed, material thickness, taper compensation and operator setup. Not completely in most workshops. A bridge saw is often faster and more economical for repeated straight cuts, while a waterjet is better suited to sink openings, curves, lettering, mosaics, inlays and other complex shapes. Many stone businesses achieve the best productivity by using a bridge saw and waterjet together.
